The aim is to evaluate ecosystem service functions and ecological connectivity in the Dongting Lake Basin using circuit theory and the InVEST model.
Utilized the InVEST model to assess ecosystem service functions
Applied circuit theory to identify ecological source areas and connectivity patterns
Analyzed land use changes from 2000 to 2020
Established an ecological security pattern with core areas and management zones
Ecosystem service functions varied with significant changes in water conservation and soil retention
Urban expansion induced localized habitat degradation
Ecological source areas fluctuated from 18,925.38 km² in 2000 to 30,941.38 km² in 2020
An ecological security pattern with defined cores, zones, and corridors was established
