Prospective clinical CMR study shows T1ρ mapping's superior diagnostic accuracy for HCM and HHD, highlighting fibrosis differences.
Motivation: Differentiating hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) from hypertensive heart disease (HHD) is challenging due to similar clinical and imaging features. Goal(s): This study aims to explore the effectiveness of T1ρ mapping as a non-contrast imaging method for distinguishing between HCM and HHD. Approach: We employed non-contrast T1ρ and native T1 mapping on Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) in HCM and HHD patients and compared fibrosis metrics. Results: T1ρ mapping outperformed native T1 in differentiating HCM from HHD, demonstrating superior diagnostic accuracy for fibrosis evaluation. Impact: This research employs non-contrast T1ρ mapping to evaluate fibrosis differences between HCM and HHD, providing valuable insights for distinguishing left ventricular hypertrophy, consequently supporting customized, patient-specific treatment approaches.
