Motivation: Echocardiography based cardiac strain evaluation is operative dependent. Cardiac MR is operator independent. Absence of Cardiac strain measures in Indian patient population. Goal(s): To evaluate differences in cardiac strain between patients with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM), and controls, using CMR-FT and examine its correlation with ejection fraction (EF). Approach: Retrospective cohort study analyzing clinical and imaging data from 224 subjects (98 HCM, 99 DCM, 27 controls) between 2022 and 2023. Results: DCM patients showed a stronger correlation with EF compared to HCM patients and controls. Within the DCM and HCM groups, GCS had a slightly stronger correlation with EF than GLS. Impact: This study highlights the potential of integrating strain data into clinical use as an early indicator for risk stratification, particularly in HCM patients, leading to effective interventions and improved outcomes.
