Case report reveals gastroduodenal intussusception due to an antropyloric adenoma, highlighting imaging significance.
Gastroduodenal intussusception is a rare cause of gastric outlet obstruction in an adult population. We report a case of an 86-year-old woman with a large antropyloric tubulovillous adenoma with low-grade dysplasia that served as the lead point for gastroduodenal intussusception. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography demonstrated the classic “bowel-within-bowel” sign with a heterogeneously enhancing polypoidal mass telescoping into the duodenum. Endoscopic biopsy confirmed the diagnosis. Due to severe nutritional depletion, gastrojejunostomy was performed with good recovery. This case highlights the pivotal role of computed tomography in the accurate diagnosis and management of this uncommon entity.
