Retrospective study compares image quality in mechanical axis imaging for EOS and digital radiographs, suggesting EOS may be superior.
Key Points
This study aims to compare the mechanical axis image quality between the EOS imaging system and digital radiographs.
Retrospective study of 100 patients undergoing both EOS and digital radiograph imaging.
Three observers scored image quality based on European guidelines criteria: resolution, coverage, positioning, contrast, and motion.
Inter-rater agreement was measured with Gwet’s agreement coefficient and variables were compared using McNemar’s test.
EOS achieved almost perfect inter-rater reliability for resolution (AC1 = 0.99, 95% CI = 0.98,1.00, p < 0.001).
Digital radiographs showed high reliability for motion artefacts (AC1 = 0.96, 95% CI = 0.92,1.00, p < 0.001).
Significant differences in coverage of the area of interest (chi-squared = 37.39, p < 0.001) and hip level (chi-squared = 31.44, p < 0.001) were found.
