Conference proceedings highlight digital transformation in civil engineering, suggesting improved decision-making through data analytics and monitoring.
About this conference A key objective of EuroStruct conferences is to promote international cooperation in the fields of sustainable life‐cycle civil engineering for the purpose of enhancing the welfare of society. The first such conference was held in Padova, Italy (August 29 – September 1, 2021). The proceedings of this first conference were published in “Lecture Notes in Civil Engineering” (Springer, https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-030-91877-4 ). The second Eurostruct 2023 was held in Vienna, Austria (September 25‐29, 2023) and the proceedings were published as “EUROSTRUCT 2023:European Association on Quality Control of Bridges and Structures: Digital Transformation in Sustainability, ce/papers: Volume 6, Issue 5” (Wiley, https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/toc/25097075/2023/6/5 ) The third EuroStruct 2025 has been organized on behalf of EUROSTRUCT under the auspices of University College Dublin, Ireland September 2‐5, 2025, bringing together best practices, ideas and important topics that create guidelines and recommendations for engineering in a rapidly changing world, technologies, methods of data analytics and artificial intelligence, as well as a performance requirements we expect from our built infrastructure. The Call for papers for EuroStruct 2025 resulted in the proceedings of this year. About the cover The cover picture depicts a relaxed summer afternoon in Brno dam, Czechia. The picture indicates the inseparable communication of us with our built infrastructure, and the connection with nature. The image highlights a need for cohesive design, monitoring, assessment, decision‐making and sustainable use of our built infrastructure systems in the presence of diverse needs and challenges. Review Process A call for mini‐symposia and abstracts was circulated first and assessed by a reviewing panel. This was handled by a dedicated Eurostruct2025 email account. Subsequently, decision on submission of mini‐symposia and full papers, including those belonging to a general category, were sought. The submission, reviews and final acceptance of all full papers were carried out through ScholarOne Manuscripts and as per the regulations of this platform as well. A scientific committee reviewed the papers in a single‐blind peer review process, with each paper being reviewed by two reviewers. Revisions as per the comments of the reviewers were subsequently re‐reviewed and were either recommended for a publication, further review, or rejection. Papers with multiple rounds of reviews continued to be iterated until a final decision was reached. A decision of submission of the final version was recommended at that stage for the accepted papers. The Chairs of the conference carried out a final check on the decisions as well during the final phase of the submission where the final version was uploaded. The National Organising Committee was responsible for the sequencing of the papers, as well as for nomination of operational chairs during the running of the sessions.
