Adding titanium enhances microstructure and performance of Ni60 coatings, highlighting its role in reducing porosity.
In order to enhance the comprehensive performance of nickel-based alloy coatings, AlN and Cr 3 C 2 powders were added to Ni60 powder. By introducing Ti elements, the study investigated the effect of Ti content on the macro morphology, microstructure, and performance of the coatings. The phase composition, microstructure, elemental distribution, and grain orientation of the coating were characterized using an X-ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS), and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). The hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance of the coating were tested using a microhardness tester, friction tester, and electrochemical workstation. The results show that the addition of Ti improves the macro morphology of the coating and reduces its porosity. When no Ti element is added or 1% Ti is added, the coating is distributed with a large amount of the second phase. With the increase in Ti content, a double ceramic phase of Ti(C, N) appeared in the coating. The coating with 5wt.% Ti addition has the best macro morphology and comprehensive performance. Therefore, adding an appropriate proportion of Ti elements can improve the macro morphology of the coating and enhance its quality and performance
