Field Operator reduces well delivery durations by up to 66% in Abu Dhabi, suggesting real-time data analytics enhances efficiency and sustainability.
Abu Dhabi's unconventional oil resources present a transformative opportunity for energy diversification and long-term sustainability. This paper presents Field Operator's strategic journey in reducing Oil Unconventional Appraisal PAD wells well delivery duration - There is a substantial reduction in well delivery time, with wells now being completed at 55% reduced durations, the fastest recorded at 66% reduced duration compared to previous durations against the well completed in June 2024—achieved through a combination of advanced drilling technologies, real-time data analytics, and integrated operational workflows. The initiative prioritized safety, environmental stewardship, and cost and operational efficiency, aligning with Field Operators broader sustainability goals. Key enablers included optimized well design, performance-focused execution, improved drilling practices and cross-functional collaboration. The results demonstrate a scalable model for accelerating unconventional development while maintaining operational excellence and minimizing environmental impact. Moreover, to ensure the most effective and fit-for-purpose strategies, Field Operator has conducted comprehensive reviews of practices and performance benchmarks from unconventional giants around the globe. These insights have informed the design and execution of Company's unconventional wells, enabling the adoption of proven technologies and workflows while tailoring them to the unique geological and operational context of Abu Dhabi. Collaborative efforts with industry partners, including Turnwell, have complemented Field Operator's internal initiatives by providing technical support and facilitating knowledge exchange, contributing to the overall success of the unconventional program
