Experimental analysis revealed that graphene enhances the flexural strength and toughness of ceramic composites, suggesting improved mechanical reliability.
Ceramic composite materials based on SiC-TiB2-TiC with different graphene content were obtained by spark plasma sintering technology. The flexural strength, Vickers hardness and fracture toughness of the obtained samples were determined. Sintered ceramic composite 60 % vol. SiC — 25 % vol. TiB2 — 15 % vol. TiC — 0.25 % vol. G (density 99.85 % at a temperature of 1820 °C) showed mechanical properties (fracture toughness 6.24 MPa·m1/2, flexural strength 582.8 MPa and hardness 22.2 GPa).
