Meta-analysis reveals knowledge and parental support significantly impact sexual behavior in adolescents, indicating a need for active involvement.
Introduction: Various factors, including knowledge, peer support, parental support, and sources of information influence adolescent sexual behavior. Understanding these influences is essential for effective prevention strategies. Aim: This study aims to analyze the influence of adolescent knowledge, peer support, parental role support, and sources of information on adolescent sexual behavior through a meta-analysis. Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted using Google Scholar and Crossref databases. Keywords included "adolescent sexual behavior," "knowledge," "peer support," "parental support," and "information sources." Seven studies met the inclusion criteria from an initial pool of 4,900 articles. Data were analyzed using Review Manager (Reman) 5.4 software. Results: The meta-analysis found that adolescent knowledge, parental support, and information sources significantly influence sexual behavior. Parental support had the strongest protective effect, with adolescents being 9.17 times more likely to avoid sexual behavior when parental support was present. Peer support showed no significant effect. Conclusion: Knowledge, parental role support, and access to credible information significantly influence adolescent sexual behavior. Parental support plays the most critical role, emphasizing the need for early and active parental involvement in adolescent sexual education.
