Analysis reveals inadequate water supply and quality control in Prijedor, highlighting the need for infrastructure improvements.
About 6.000 inhabitants who live in the areas along the Prijedor-Tomašica road (Gomjenica, Petrovo, Miljakovci, Gaćani, Saničani, Rakelići, Pejići, Tomašica, Krivaja, Busnovi), on the right bank of the river Sana and the areas along the Prijedor-Sanski Most road (Zecovi, Rasavci, Nishtavci, Ališići) on the left bank of the Sana, do not have an organized public water supply. The water supply of the inhabitants of this area has not been systematically solved, and all previous researches have shown that there are not enough high-quality local sources in this area with the necessary abundance to solve this problem. The existing water supply takes place through smaller improvised local waterworks with inadequate protection of the source itself, through individual wells and water supply by tanker. This situation does not provide the necessary standards in terms of water quantity and quality control and limits the development of this area. By building a unique water supply system, these problems would be solved, and the water supply coverage of the City of Prijedor would amount to over 90%. This paper presents the history of the research, which will ultimately lead to the realization of the water supply project.
