Assessment reveals that a butyrate and chicory-based feed additive improves productivity in broiler parent herd, suggesting enhanced nutrient digestibility.
The purpose of the research was to evaluate the eff ect of a butyrate and chicory-based feed additive on the animal science parameters and digestibility of nutrients in the diet of broiler parent herd. The experiment was carried out at the Limited Liability Partnership A-Altyn (Republic Kazakhstan) using the AndSid Perfect additive produced by FF Chemicals BV (Netherlands). The results of the research showed that the introduction of the feed additive in the amount of 0.7–1.0 kg per 1 ton of compound feed helped to improve the dynamics of the live weight of laying hens, increase their survivability and productivity, and increase the digestibility of dry matter. When introducing the AndSid Perfect feed additive in the amount of 0.7 and 1.0 kg /t of compound feed, the survivability rate of parent stock chickens increased by 0.73 and 0.45 abs. %, respectively. The greatest diff erence in the egg production intensity and egg production per 1 layer during the experimental period was recorded in the parent herd of hens that received 1.0 kg of the feed additive per 1 ton of feed, which were 0.9 and 2.9 abs.% higher than in the control group. In the experimental group laying hens that received the feed additive at the age of 294–296 days, the percentage of digested dry matter was 0.3–0.7 abs.% higher, and at the age of 430–433 days by 0.2–0.9 abs.%, respectively. The maximum level of digested dry matter was established in the laying hens that received the feed additive in the amount of 1.0 kg /t of compound feed, and amounted to 72.00 % at the age of 294–296 days and 70.30 % at the age of 430–433 days.
