Structural equation model reveals that innovation behavior boosts job performance in ICT employees, suggesting HR improvements.
The purpose of this study is to establish and analyze a structural equation model to investigate whether the seven capitals of Bourdieu directly affect innovation behavior at an individual level for ICT company members and whether innovation behavior directly affects job performance, which is a dependent variable. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, a statistical analysis of the structural equation model was conducted with the SPSS 26.0 statistical program and AMOS 26.0 statistical analysis program for 293 ICT company members. First, it was found that physical capital, language capital, intellectual capital, and economic capital had a significant positive (+) effect on innovation behavior, respectively. However, cultural capital, social capital, and physical capital were found to have no significant effect on innovation behavior, respectively. Second, innovation behavior was found to have a significant positive (+) effect on job performance. Third, as a side effect of the direct effect, psychological capital, language capital, intellectual capital, and economic capital showed an indirect effect on job performance through innovation behavior. According to the results of this study, this study has theoretical implications in that it investigated the direct and indirect effects of the structural equation model on the impact relationship between innovation behavior and job performance with seven capitals of Bourdieu. It also presents practical implications by suggesting HR systems and program development aimed at enhancing psychological, language, intellectual, and economic capital.
