Discussion

Cluster frontline demonstrations improved yield and economics of blackgram, suggesting enhanced farming practices in Tamil Nadu.

The average yield of blackgram increased by 25% with improved technologies compared to traditional methods.
Demonstrations achieved a mean yield of 8.5 q/ha versus 6.4 q/ha under conventional farming.
The study utilized cluster frontline demonstrations over 60 hectares with 150 active farmer participations.
The adoption of improved technologies showed significantly higher net returns and better B:C ratios for farmers.

Venudevan et al. (2025) studied this question.
