The article considers the issue of the relevance of the functioning of Ukrainian culture, which is an indicator of the ethnic and national identity of Ukrainians and is also one of the factors of the revival and preservation of national memory. It should be noted that the basis of the fullness of national memory is developed by the mentality, national traditions, cultural and spiritual values of Ukrainians. Attention is paid to the preservation and functioning of the cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people, which shapes the socio-cultural environment and value orientations of Ukrainian citizens and, very importantly, is a powerful factor in the unity of the Ukrainian nation, especially during times of war. The essence and purpose of the Ukrainian song "Oi u luzi chervona kalyna" (Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow) is substantiated in the context of modern challenges of military aggression from the russian federation. Using the example of the genesis of the riflemen's song "Oi u luzi chervona kalyna," which was a symbol of the invincibility and resilience of the Sich Riflemen more than a hundred years ago, the article shows the peculiarities of the communicative nature of the song composition, which was clearly manifested during the full-scale invasion of the russian federation into the territory of independent Ukraine.
