Research uncovers new composite materials for soft grippers, suggesting improvements in adaptability and responsiveness.
The traditional end clamping device is primarily a rigid structure or pneumatic device, and its clamping method mainly relies on electromagnetic technology, vacuum adsorption, and mechanical extrusion. With the rapid development of smart materials, soft grippers have become a research hotspot. The body of the soft gripper is made of flexible materials, which have infinite degrees of freedom and continuous deformation ability. It can passively adapt to the environment through its deformation, while the response impedance to external pressure is low. To break through the technical bottleneck of existing soft fixture-driven complexity and material innovation, this study proposes a new type of programmable composite material. The material combines magnetic responsiveness with rapid prototyping capabilities and has exceptional magnetic responsiveness. At the same time, a composite material manufacturing method integrating authorization and programming printing was innovatively proposed, and the design and manufacture of soft grippers were completed. This research has significant value for transforming and upgrading existing soft grippers and expanding the field of soft grippers.
