Review analyzes the relationship between concept feature and semantic feature, highlighting its role in categorizing conceptual features.
The paper presents a comprehensive review of research on the topic of the concept feature. It analyzes the contributions of scholars in the fields of linguacultural studies (Yu. S. Stepanov, V. I. Karasik) and linguacognitology (N.N. Boldyrev, M.V. Pimenova, Z. D. Popova, I. A. Sternin, among others). The relationship between the notions of concept feature and semantic feature is examined, alongside various approaches to understanding the organization of features within the structure of a concept. The paper categorizes conceptual features into several types: conceptual, motivational, cognitive classification, and context-dependent. Based on a synthesis of the reviewed literature, a clear definition of the term “concept feature” is proposed, elucidating its essential nature. Furthermore, the paper substantiates the role of concept features in shaping conceptual categories and clarifies the distinctions between common, similar and mutually inverse features. To illustrate these ideas, fragments from the conceptual categories HOLIDAY and SUGAR are provided as examples. Methodologically, the study employs generalization, definitional analysis, descriptive, and conceptual analysis methods.
